Scalable responsible AI requires centralized model registries that maintain comprehensive records of every AI system in production -- its purpose, training data provenance, performance metrics, risk classification, responsible owner, deployment context, and compliance status. Without such registries, organizations lose visibility into their AI portfolio as it grows, creating governance blind spots where models operate without adequate oversight, documentation, or monitoring.

At sufficient scale, responsible AI governance itself must be partially automated.
